It’s a picture-perfect day.
- Serenity breaks as your phone receives a text alert.
- It’s your boss.
- A crisis is brewing.
- Your smile melts as you join the team meeting.
Are you crisis ready?
Think you are? Think again.
According to PWC’s Global Crisis Survey 2021, of the 2,814 business leaders surveyed, 95% indicated that their crisis management capabilities needed to be improved.
If nothing else (and there was plenty more) the recent pandemic taught us a little something about handling a crisis. But the pandemic didn’t mark the start, nor will its resolution mark the end, for the need to be able to successfully handle crisis situations. Neither will having a written plan, conducting a practice drill, or hearing commitments from your leadership team.
All of these activities are important but when crisis strikes, critical remediation is performed by people – people like you.
So, again we ask . . .
Are you crisis ready?
Before we focus on YOU, here are some interesting highlights from the PWC Study:
- Effective communication and collaboration cannot be emphasized enough.
- Businesses that prioritize and invest in building a foundation of resilience to address any type of crisis will be better positioned to weather what comes next.
- Business leaders recognize that a foundation of resilience can make the difference between faltering or flourishing. During a disruption or in good times.
- As the post-pandemic period begins to take shape in the coming months, organization have an opportunity to reimagine opportunities for the future.
- Here are three steps every organization should take:
- Plan and prepare.
- Break down silos.
- Build resilience.
Getting your organization ready to handle a crisis is critical. but as you do, remember this:
Whatever plan or grand strategy your organization creates will be executed by people – by you — and people like you.
So again, we ask:
Are you crisis ready?
Is everyone else?
