Do you have what it takes to achieve your goals? You will now!

Have a plan!

Every person at every level needs to have an Individual Development Plan (IDP) to help them set goals, establish a direction, and guide his or her personal growth and development.

A simple plan is better than no plan!

The plan does not need to be elaborate, but it should be written. In fact QwikCoach would “say” that if it’s not written it’s not done. Having an idea in your head and having a written plan are two fundamentally different things. For that reason, you must have a written plan.

Here’s a sample IDP.

While there is no standard or commonly accepted format for an IDP most have similar components.  Here’s one from QwikCoach that you can use as is or modify.

Sample IDP Template

Individual Development Plans:

  • Help individuals establish and work towards achieving both short and long term goals, and
  • Are also used to improve an employee’s ability to perform current job responsibilities.

Remember:

IDPs are typically developed as a collaboration between the individual and his or her supervisor or manager and are used throughout the year as a basis for on-going performance-related dialogue, feedback, and advice.
